At VigiTech GPS Tracking, we’re always working on features that make tracking more useful in the real world — not just on a map.
We’re pleased to introduce our new Device Location Sharing feature, which allows you to generate a secure link and share a live device location with anyone who needs it.
This is ideal for:
- Delivery updates
- Service engineer ETA notifications
- Goods in transit tracking
- Emergency/security situations (including sharing with police)
What the new feature does
With just a couple of clicks, you can now create a shareable link for any tracked device.
The person receiving the link can view:
- The device’s current live location
- Optional destination
- Optional ETA / expected arrival
- Optional history (if enabled)
- Optional predicted route (if enabled)
You also control how long the link stays active by setting a share duration (for example, 60 minutes, or longer if needed).
That means you can safely share location access for a limited time — without giving access to your full tracking platform.
Why this is useful
1) Better delivery communication
If you deliver vehicles, equipment, stock, or customer orders, this makes it much easier to keep customers informed.
Instead of:
- phone calls asking “Where is it?”
- vague time windows
- repeated updates from the office
…you can send a live tracking link so the customer can see progress in real time.
Benefits:
- Fewer inbound calls
- Better customer experience
- More confidence and transparency
- Clearer expected arrival times
2) Perfect for service providers and mobile engineers
If you run a field service team (installers, engineers, technicians, maintenance staff, mobile fitters, etc.), this feature is a big win.
Your dispatcher can share a link with the customer so they can see:
- that the engineer is on the way
- where they are currently
- when they’re likely to arrive (ETA)
This is especially useful when customers are waiting on-site and want reassurance that someone is actually en route.
Great for:
- Vehicle installers
- Maintenance contractors
- Utility engineers
- Mobile mechanics
- Site service teams
3) Goods in transit visibility
For businesses transporting valuable goods, stock, tools, or equipment, this feature gives an easy way to share location visibility with trusted parties.
Examples:
- A warehouse team tracking a delivery vehicle inbound
- A customer waiting for a high-value shipment
- A project manager monitoring plant/equipment transport
- A supplier confirming a time-critical delivery
Because links can be time-limited, you can provide the visibility people need without exposing your full system.
4) Security and incident response (including sharing with police)
This feature can also be extremely useful in security-related situations.
If a vehicle or asset is stolen, or a suspicious movement is detected, you can quickly generate a link and share it with the relevant authorities (for example, the police), so they can view the live location immediately.
This can help speed up response times because:
- there’s no delay waiting for screenshots or manual updates
- the location is live
- the tracking can be followed in real time
- destination/route context can be included where relevant
It also helps internal teams coordinate during recovery or incident handling.
Secure, controlled sharing
A key benefit of this feature is that sharing is controlled and temporary.
You decide:
- Who gets the link
- How long it remains active
- Whether to include history
- Whether to include a destination / route
- Whether the share should run until arrival
This gives you a practical balance of:
- visibility
- privacy
- security
- ease of use
Designed for real-world tracking workflows
We built this feature to be genuinely useful for everyday operations — not just as a technical extra.
Whether you’re:
- improving customer communication,
- reducing missed deliveries,
- coordinating engineers,
- monitoring goods in transit,
- or responding to security incidents,
the new Location Sharing feature helps you act faster and share the right information with the right people.
